’A Scurata – Cunti E Canti Al Calar Del Sole
In the heart of the Stagnone Lagoon in Marsala, where the sun dips behind the Egadi Islands offering some of the most breathtaking sunsets in the world, the summer event ’A Scurata – Tales and Songs at Sunset – Enrico Russo Memorial comes to life each year. A unique experience that blends the emotions of theatre and music with the magic of Sicilian nature.
The stage is set within one of the ancient salt pans of the Genna Saltworks, in a fully eco-sustainable open-air theatre built using local tuff stones without the use of mortar or chemicals. The seating, made from recycled wood, welcomes the audience into an intimate and evocative atmosphere.
Each performance begins at 7:00 PM, just as the sun sets and the sky is painted in vivid hues. The Stagnone, framed by the Egadi Islands, becomes a living canvas of rare beauty. This is a multisensory experience, where sounds, stories and images merge with the scent of salt and the sea breeze to create unforgettable emotions.
Over the years, the festival has hosted some of Italy’s most renowned performers – from Corrado Tedeschi to Antonella Ruggiero, Mario Venuti, Amanda Sandrelli, Peppe Servillo, Eugenio Bennato and many more.
But ’A Scurata is also a space for promoting local talent: each year, numerous artists from the Trapani area perform before a growing and enthusiastic audience, including many tourists visiting Marsala.
Organised by the Movimento Artistico Culturale Città di Marsala, the event is the result of a collaboration between major local artistic and musical institutions. A winning combination of art, nature, and tradition, capable of engaging and moving audiences of all ages.
