Pizzo Monaco has become famous for the discovery of a collective fortified granary, dated to the Islamic period: a unique case in Italy, probably the oldest Islamic granary in the western Mediterranean.
Various archaeological remains have been found in the Custonaci area, such as the remains of a Copper Age necropolis in contrada Tono.
