Serisso: La Tavola Del Corsaro
Via Serisso – nestled in the heart of Trapani’s historic center – will turn into an open-air stage for the second edition of “Serisso: The Corsair’s Table”, a dinner-performance event that combines memory, art, and civic engagement.
This initiative was created to enhance the cultural and urban value of Via Serisso, a historic street in the city, and at the same time offer a moment of reflection on violence against women through a powerful symbolic narrative. At the center of the evening is the legend of the corsair Serisso, who, driven by jealousy, killed his young wife—a femicide from the past that echoes painfully in the present day.
Three hundred guests will be seated along a single, long communal table, while artists, actors, musicians, and dancers bring to life a performance led by the figure of Madame Serisse, representing all women who have lost their lives to gender-based violence. The artistic direction is curated by Valentina Guarneri, owner of the 122 Ricami Art Gallery and co-founder of the Associazione Serisso, which organizes the event.
The project is made possible thanks to the collaboration of local restaurateurs who will create a shared outdoor kitchen, and with the support of the Municipality of Trapani. The event is also backed by Colomba Bianca, official sponsor for the second consecutive year. This partnership carries significant meaning, as the cooperative was the workplace of Marisa Leo, a young mother tragically killed in 2023 by her former partner. Her story deeply affected the community of Trapani and beyond, and her memory symbolically returns to the city through this cultural initiative.
The event originated from an idea shared by Giuseppe Parisi, owner of the Marèe restaurant, and chef Giuseppe Giuffrè, and has taken shape thanks to the joint effort of citizens and professionals united under the Associazione Serisso, founded by Vito Lamia, Giuseppe Parisi, Alberto Lo Greco, Francesca Adragna, Michela Sugameli, Elia Palmeri, and Valentina Guarneri.
Via Serisso will once again become a place of gathering, storytelling, and community participation, where the past mirrors the present and where the beauty of a shared table blends with the courage to confront the shadows of our collective history.
