Parco delle cave di Marsala

The az. agr. The Marsala Cave Park was born inside calcarenite quarries already worked with extraction, by the previous owners who were quarrymen.
The suggestive landscape created after the various reclamation interventions by the new owners, necessary to make the place accessible, has attracted the attention of theater and musical companies as well as the subject of interviews by national networks such as Rai 2 in the program "si viaggiare" and Rai 3 on the FAI day, as well as video clips and various sponsorships (Lamborghini). The park extends over its 7 hectares, enhancing its scenic and naturalistic beauty but preserving its cultural and historical value.
The art of the miner has always been a source of financial support for many families from Marsala, it identifies a society since ancient times and unfortunately this profession is about to disappear. The owners of the Parco delle cave agricultural company wanted to save these places to leave a memory of them, avoiding them becoming public landfills. Today you have the opportunity to live an EXPERIENCE between nature and culture, learning about the various extraction systems that have followed one another over time, learning about the origins of the stone that the quarrymen were looking for and touching and smelling the spontaneous aromatic plants typical of the "sciara".
The experience takes place on foot for about 90/120 minutes, first walking through today's quarries, the "open-air" ones and then those in the cave. We invite you to get to know the "hidden" part of the city of MARSALA, the underground one.
